Two Trees

There are two trees found in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:8-9); The tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. One had a snake in it.

Satan’s Plan (from Life Application Study Bible) adds up to deception
Doubt: Makes you question God and His goodness.
Discouragement: Makes you look at your problems rather than at God.
Diversion: Makes the wrong things seem attractive so you will want them more than the right things.
Defeat: Makes you feel like a failure so that you don’t even try.
Delay: Makes you put off something so that it never gets done.

Living for God (All In)
We see His goodness to us and others up close and personal.
Being close to our Father gives us peace as we depend on Him through life’s trials.
The light of His truth will illuminate things so you can see things for what they are.
God is our purpose; we have the distinction of being made in His image, live well in His name.
Hunger and thirst for His righteousness.

The bible doesn’t say why God respected Abel’s offering and not Cain’s. I am going to speculate and say Able lived in the presence of God and knew God and God knew him. Able knew what would please God and Cain did not. Gen 4:5b Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell. A life lived for God quickens the Spirit and enlivens the soul. Gen 4:7 “If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”

In which tree do you make your house?

Life Is To Be Lived Not Gotten Through

Genesis 3:8-10 (NKJV)
And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day. Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” So he said, “I heard your voice in the garden and I was afraid because I was naked: and I hid myself.”

What if when they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day Adam and his wife ran to the Lord God and confessed what they had done? Instead they hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God. How many time and in how many ways do we hide ourselves from the presence of the Lord God?

Live in His Presence (this blog) started as a result of reading a little book called The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence. This book got me thinking about how I relate to God. The main focus is keeping God in the forefront of your mind all day every day until you do it naturally. Live in God and He will live through you.

Go Out in Faith, with Love and Humility

Faith to me is first and foremost in God. It is an action word, experiential in meaning. Faith is practiced in trust. Trusting God takes many forms. In all ways, it depends on us. He has promised many things. We need only to live for Him to receive His gifts and blessings. God has a life for us to live, live with God in your presence at all times and soon you will realize that you are living in His. Then you will be in His will: that is, close enough to Him to hear His voice telling you what He wants for you and from you. And there you will see how and where you can practice your faith trusting in God.

God has given us the Bible and He tells us to seek Him and His righteousness. God has given us His son Jesus who has delivered us from a life lived in our own effort; ending in eternal separation from God, to a life lived for the God who made us “in His image”. Believe in Jesus and receive the Holy Spirit, enter in to His courts with praise and thanksgiving for if you do you are saved. The Lord God is one God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). Seek God to live in His presence.

Read the Bible and learn why we are imperfect and how God has used imperfect people to do great things. See that God blesses those who believe and trust in Him. Understand that trust builds upon itself. The more you trust God for, the stronger your faith grows as you see Him work in your life providing everything you need. Ask God who gives to all men generously and without reproach. Come as you are, enter in, and begin the sanctification process. Press On.
